How to apply e-visa to India? Step to Step (Granted status)

Good day. Hello Malaysian, if you plan to travel to India, this post will help you on how to apply for Indian evisa  for Malaysian. If you are like me, want to save money from flying to KL for visa, with this evisa online service, we can just easily do it ourselves. Save us from the hassle of travelling and save that money for India later, right?  I will do my best to explain the procedures step by step. 

1. Type https://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/index.html. 

You should see something like this. Click the e visa box on the left side scrolldown, NOT the blue on the top. 

2. It will lead you to this page.

Then, you will see this process at the bottom, just click apply online.

3. Then you will need to key in your details like below. If you are like me, just a normal traveller, you should choose ORDINARY PASSPORT. Port of arrival is the airport that you will land in India later. In my case, I will land in Hyderabad. Anyway, continue filling your details like your email and the date you will arrive in India. Choose eTourist Visa , recreation/sight-seeing. Then continue.

4. This page will appear. Please be prepared with the required documentation. 

It is important to follow this guideline. If not, they can reject your application.

5. Now, this is important. Let say your name is Nur Hidayah binti Suiedi, the BIN or BINTI should be included in the surname box like this. See picture below. 

6. Next, choose nationality by Birth. Meaning that you were born here in Malaysia. Then continue fill in your passport details. 

 

7. You will continue filling all the details on the next pages until you reached this page. 

You might wonder what to fill in here if you don't know anyone in India. Don't worry, just write the hotel name of your place to stay in the reference name in India box, then the address, you must be careful. It is IMPORTANT for you to WRITE FULL ADDRESS of the hotel, including the street number and all. For example, if you type only Hyderabad, instead of full address, then you risk your application to be rejected.

8. Here we come to the last and crucial part, but if it is correctly, then you will get your evisa less than 72 hours. Make sure your picture and passport document strictly follow the guideline given in the website. 

Next after uploading your picture is your passport. Make sure you scan your passport in pdf format less than 300MB. In my case, my pdf was beyond 300MB so I have to reduce the size. The passport doc details should be clear. If you follow the guideline given, you should be ok. =)

9. After you uploaded your passport and your picture, you will see payment page. There are two gateways of payment; SBIepay and Axis Bank. Fret not, just choose any of them. I chose SBIepay. Then I filled in my Maybank credit card details, any bank would do and you can use debit card too. Only Mastercard/Visa is accepted. This evisa costs 50USD, and RM on this date, costs me, RM212.90. 

10. Next, you will get email on your visa status application. I received this email right after I did the payment around 9am in the morning

11. On the very same day, at 10pm I received another email. My evisa application is GRANTED, Wohooo!! It only took less than a day to complete this evisa.
